Understanding PackEM UoM Structure
Key Concepts for Chatbot:
- Primary UOM = smallest sellable/trackable unit (inventory tracking + per unit pricing)
- Other UOM 1 & 2 = larger/grouped units for storage, purchasing, or shipping
- Maximum 3 UOMs per product (Primary + 2 Others)
- All conversions are relative to Primary UOM
Decision Tree for UoM Recommendations
Level 1: Initial Assessment Questions
Question 1: "What type of product are you setting up UoMs for?"
- Individual items (electronics, books, tools)
- Liquids (beverages, oils, chemicals)
- Variable pack products (cases that vary by supplier)
- Bulk materials (powders, granules)
Question 2: "What's the smallest unit you sell or track?"
- This becomes their Primary UOM
- Common answers: Each, Liter, Kilogram, Pound, Gallon
Question 3: "How do you typically receive this product from suppliers?"
- Individual pieces → No additional UOM needed
